Lulwa is an industrial engineer from Kuwait. She has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 8. Determined to live life to the fullest, she has not allowed diabetes to stand in her way. She has joined the YLD program in Vancouver, where she was elected the to become MENAs regional chair elect. She is working on making the community aware that diabetes is manageable, and is not in any way a hinder. Today she is working on helping people with type 1 diabetes to overcome the challenges they face while balancing their day to day lives with diabetes. In the future she wishes to make a change in how people perceive diabetes.
My project: A support group that helps build confidence for teenagers between the ages of high school and university. The support group helps bring out the problems that people face in their day to day lives, and allow the people to come up with the solutions. As well as raise awareness to the problems faced, and communicate the solutions to the community.
