MEPs Mobilising for Diabetes (MMD), the MEP Interest Group on Diabetes will be holding a webinar to launch its ‘Blueprint for Action on Diabetes in the European Union by 2030’. The online event will take place on Thursday, February 25, 08.00-09.00 CET. Click this link to register.
MMD was established in November 2020 under co-chairs MEPs Sirpa Pietikäinen and Christel Schaldemose. The group aims to elevate diabetes on the EU political agenda, promote understanding of the multi-faceted nature of the disease, dispel common misperceptions, and foster EU policy measures and action through close collaboration with the Commission/Council/individual Member States.
The Blueprint for Action on Diabetes in the European Union outlines the priorities that need to be addressed over the next ten years in order to flatten the curve on the diabetes pandemic, improve the lives of people living with diabetes and reduce health inequalities across Europe. The agenda on the day will be as follows:

Priorities of the Portuguese Presidency (video message): A representative of the Portuguese Presidency will outline the priorities of the Presidency in relation to health and diabetes.
Intervention of MEP Cristian - Silviu Buşoi MEP Cristian Silviu Buşoi will present his perspective in his capacity as ITRE Chair and EU4health rapporteur.
Introduction to the Blueprint for Action on Diabetes in the European Union by 2030: This will be a presentation of the rationale behind the Blueprint and of the key policy actions necessary to tackle the diabetes challenge in the EU in time to meet the Sustainable Development Goals.
