About

The Sudanese Diabetes Association (SUDA) was established in 1989 and affiliated with International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2009.

SUDA’s goal is to establish and promote awareness of diabetes and its prevention throughout the population.

Its mission is to raise the capacity of health professionals and persons with diabetes, and to encourage healthy lifestyle adaptations which will help reducing the risks factors.

Main Focus

Care and support

SUDA provides information, advice and peer support, so people with diabetes can manage their condition effectively. Its services are also available to family members, friends and carers so they can support those with the condition.

Research

SUDA is one of the funders of diabetes research in Sudan. It supports pioneering research into cause and prevention, improving care and treatment, and working towards finding a cure.

Awareness

SUDA works hard to help stem the rising tide of diabetes by raising awareness of the risk factors associated with developing the condition, and by encouraging people to eat a balanced diet, maintain a healthy weight and take part in regular physical activity.

Campaigns

SUDA campaigns with and for people with diabetes to ensure that everyone affected by the condition gets access to the best treatment and standards of care. This is every person’s right, irrespective of their age, ethnic group, postcode, or type of diabetes.

Message from the President

As a member of IDF, we are able to participate in the largest global network of diabetes organizations dedicated to achieve progress for people with diabetes. And we have the opportunity of having access to the diabetes community and exchange knowledge and experience with others. I think it is worth being part of the IDF in the past, present and the future”.
