The Vietnamese Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology (VADE) was founded in 2001 as a member association of the National Vietnamese Medical Association.
VADE is the peak medical and scientific society in Vietnam. Its mission is to improve care and quality outcomes for people living with diabetes.
Diabetes is a complex and multifactorial disease that imposes a significant health burden in Vietnam. VADE is committed to:
To communicate best practices for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in the care of diabetic patients in Vietnam.
Develop Vietnam-specific guidelines for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diabetes.
Develop diabetes prevention programs for communities and workplaces.
Build capacity for research and translation of research into clinical care.
Become a national advocacy and raising awareness of diabetes in the general population.
VADE organized an event called “Walking for Preventing Diabetes” in 11/2012, with # 900 people participating in the walk. The event was part of the World Diabetes Day.
Convened the 16th Congress of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrinology Societies in Ho Chi Minh in 11/2011.
Organized CME courses and workshops in updated clinical diabetes and research methodology.
Initiated the Patient Club where patients and interested individuals meet monthly or 3-monthly.
Developed national screening programs for diabetes, gestational diabetes, retinopathy, and albuminuria, CVD in diabetes.
