IDF is looking to hire a full-time Intern to join our Education team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual to support education in global public health in an international and dynamic NGO. 

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an alliance of over 230 national diabetes associations with two million members in more than 164 countries and territories, IDF has been at the vanguard of global diabetes advocacy for over 50 years.

The Intern will work remotely so there is no requirement to reside in Belgium.

This is an unpaid internship. The period of the internship is to be defined with the candidate but the recommended period is minimum 3 months and preferably 6 months or longer.

The IDF Intern Programme gives undergraduate students the opportunity to obtain training and exposure to IDF’s work in the field of diabetes and non-communicable diseases.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Drafting and editing content for the IDF School of Diabetes
  • Drafting social media messages targeted to health professionals
  • Producing regular reports on the uptake of the resources on the IDF educational platform
  • Reviewing the translations of online module content
  • Assisting the education team in other activities in support of IDF projects 
  • Supporting the development of manuscripts for scientific journals
  • Providing further assistance as required to the Education Department

Skills/Experience

  • Educated to a Bachelor/ Master’s degree or equivalent (relevant field of study)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in other official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
  • Multi-tasker with strong organisational skills
  • Experience in project management cycle
  • Ability to produce summarised reports for a variety of audiences is highly desirable
  • Proven team-working skills, proactive and flexible
  • Highly computer literate, familiar with social media
  • Ability to adopt IDF’s ethics and beliefs
