Diabetes Education Project Consultant

The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is looking to recruit a Diabetes Education Project Consultant to support IDF medical and digital initiatives and other projects aligned with the Federation's Education Strategy by increasing their reach, impact and visibility through the delivery of high-value, influential marketing communications.

Main responsibilities

The Consultant will report to the Education Manager in the IDF Executive Office. Their key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical and project management support to online and face to face training initiatives
  • Designing and developing creative communication and marketing products to support specific online programmes objectives of the IDF School of Diabetes
  • Planning and implementing direct marketing approaches including targeting, personalisation of messages and measurability; data analysis, customer profiling and segmentation
  • Managing mailing lists in collaboration with the IDF Communications team
  • Ensuring programme milestones related to marketing & communications are achieved on time and within budget
  • Ensuring appropriate communication across multiple channels in line with the overall IDF communications strategy
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams – internal departments and external stakeholders and suppliers – to produce effective promotional materials
  • Supporting IDF flagship programmes – Diabetes Atlas, IDF Congress, World Diabetes Day, Advocacy activities.
  • Collaborating with the IDF Communications team in developing and implementing promotional strategies
  • Acting as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project communications
  • Preparing detailed activity reports
  • Coordinating and promoting the IDF Centres of Excellence in Diabetes Care
  • Overseeing market data analysis and evaluation of education initiatives
  • Supporting activities related to the IDF School of Diabetes and the IDF WeChat channel
  • Performing other duties as required

Skills & experience

  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in managing educational programmes (face to face and/or online) in chronic conditions, preferably in diabetes and/or diabetes-related complications
  • Master’s degree in health promotion, communications, or relevant field
  • Native oral and written knowledge of English
  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders at international level (Government, NGOs and Industry).
  • Any project management certificate is desirable
  • Experience in building targeted content is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following langauges (listed in order of relevance) is an asset: Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Russian
  • Experience in working in/for low and middle-income countries
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in writing scientific and non-scientific articles
  • Action-oriented, a good problem solver and results-driven
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills


Consultancy fees will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
