IDF Europe Young Advocate, Weronika Kowalska, participated in Hack Belgium 2019 on 28 – 30 March. More than 1000 participants and experted gathered in this annual festival for innovation, which aim is to collectively find, under the guidance of experts, solutions to the urgent challenges society faces today. For this purpose, participants could contribute choosing one of the twelve subjects proposed this year.
IDF Europe representative, Weronika participated in one of the workshops dedicated to diabetes framed under the “Sick No More – Imagining a world without disease” theme. This workshop, titled “Diabetes Management Ideation Workshop” was organized by AstraZeneca and aimed at empowering type 2 diabetes patients and their caregivers. Participants in the workshop were splitted into groups divided into differeent diabetes challenges, from early diabetes awareness and patient communication, to diabetes management.
As a result of a grupal brainstorm to develop an innovative project on diabetes management, the “Diagotchi” idea was the one that gained most interest. Weronika was leading the group that developed this project, consisting in a personal diabetes management and patients empowerment tracker. Diagotchi aims at educating the next generation about healthy eating habits and diabetes itself.
