Bringing together 21 partners from academic institutions and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), RECOGNISED aims to analyse whether evaluating the retina with current non-invasive technologies could help in identifying earlier cognitive impairment in people with type 2 diabetes.
Project coordinator, Prof. Rafael Simo (Vall d’Hebron Institute), and study coordinator, Prof. Noemi Lois (Queen’s University, Belfast), provided an update on the project, stressing that work had continued despite the COVID-19 crisis. Two parallel sessions were organised, one on the Clinical and Preclinical aspects of the research and one on Basic Research, where partners provided an overview of their work to date.
EATRIS and Genesis Biomed led a presentation on the Exploitation plan for the project, while Alzheimer Europe and IDF Europe provided an update on communication activities and tools that have been developed. A RECOGNISED website and Twitter channel are now online and a project leaflet is also available.
