Today, on World Diabetes Day (WDD), we celebrate the people living with diabetes and the many advances in diabetes care that have taken place since the discovery of insulin 100 years ago. This is also an opportunity to look at the future of diabetes by calling for greater political action to tackle the rising number of people living with diabetes (PwD) and the many inequalities in access to care and treatment that still persist across Europe. To do this, in collaboration with MEPs Mobilising for Diabetes (MMD), and alongside key diabetes stakeholders, we have been gathering political support for a new European Parliament Diabetes Resolution which will be discussed during the November II plenary session in Strasbourg.
To help us raise awareness of the urgent need for action, on the occasion of WDD, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and several members of the MMD group, are sharing their messages calling for political support for a new this Diabetes Resolution to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the 32 million people in the EU living with diabetes.
