On September 2024, Mr Jacky Vollet was appointed as the new President of the French Diabetes Federation (Fédération Française des Diabétiques – FFD), succeeding Mr Georges Petit who was elected as President in 2018.
Mr Petit’s presidency was instrumental in the FFD’s growth, notably with the expansion of the National Diabetes Prevention Week, which has now become a key national event for the prevention and awareness of Type 2 diabetes (T2D) across France. The Diabetes LAB, a laboratory dedicated to social and human sciences, has also continued to grow during his tenure, publishing more than 40 studies. These have undeniably fostered a better understanding of diabetes-related challenges and the development of innovations to improve the quality of life for people living with the condition.
Drawing on his experience as President of the regional diabetes association for the Alpes Maritimes and East Var region, the new President, Mr Jacky Vollet, will build on the work of his predecessor to lead the FFD through the challenges ahead. One of the main focuses of his presidency will be the implementation of the FFD’s new 2024-2028 strategic plan, which is structured around a few key priorities including the strengthening of local actions and entities, and the creation of an observatory on life with diabetes.
IDF Europe extends its sincere gratitude to Mr Georges Petit for his outstanding leadership over the past years. We also express our full support to the newly appointed President, Mr Jacky Vollet, as he embarks on this important role.
