The Bulgarian Diabete Asssociation to Host the 2025 DiaEuro

27 February 2025

The European Futsal Championship for people living with diabetes (DiaEuro) began in 2012 as a football tournament in Ukraine, aiming to highlight physical activity as a key component of diabetes management and the prevention of its complications as well as to raising public awareness of diabetes.

The Bulgarian team first participated in the tournament in 2013 in Croatia. Since then, participating in DiaEuro has become one of the Bulgarian Diabetes Association (BDA)’s most significant projects. Except for 2020, when the tournament was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team competed in all DiaEuro tournaments (in Romania, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland and Portugal).

In 2025, BDA will proudly host the tournament in the coastal city of Varna. Matches will take place in the recently renovated Vladislav Sports Hall. DiaEuro 2025 is expected to feature between 12 and 16 teams.

Alongside the tournament, BDA will organise educational sessions on diabetes management, a sightseeing tour of Varna and various media and communication activities to raise public awareness of diabetes.
