IDF Europe very much welcomes its new collaboration with Special Olympics Belgium. We are glad to announce that diabetes screening is for the first time included in the Healthy Athletes Programme. IDF Europe and its Belgian members, Vlaamse Diabetes Liga and the Association Belge du Diabète, are part of this collaboration .
Some studies suggest that people with Intelligence Ddeficiency have a 1.5 higher risk of developing diabetes than people without ID. The Healthy Athletes Program for the National Games that took place on 29 May-1 June in Belgium included and offered for the first time this brand new 8th health screening for the athletes on Diabetes Prevention.
