Register Now for ‘Leveraging Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic – The Need for an Inclusivity Shift’

07 April 2021

IDF Europe is delighted to announce that we will be hosting a webinar titled ‘Leveraging Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic – The Need for an Inclusivity Shift’. This event will include a presentation of the results of our Diabetes & COVID-19 Survey that was launched late last year. We will discuss how health systems should not only focus on building back fairer, but also on building back more inclusive. COVID-19 has unveiled the inequalities that many face in accessing healthcare and achieving optimal health outcomes in Europe, and these issues cannot go unaddressed in a post-pandemic world. Click here to register and join us on Thursday, April 22 at 12.00 p.m. CEST.

“Our world is an unequal one.”

And our health systems are no exception. On April 7, the WHO highlighted the fact that “some people are able to live healthier lives and have better access to health services than others. This is entirely due to the conditions in which they are born, grow, live, work and age. This is not only unfair: mostly, it is preventable.” The aim of this webinar is to bring attention to inequalities in Europe and their link to the prevalence and personal impact of chronic diseases such as diabetes. When looking to the future of our health systems, we believe the solution to many of these issues could be found in focusing on health inclusivity. This means creating a system that leaves no one behind and is inclusive of everyone’s financial, political, digital, or socio-cultural status.

The webinar will build on the knowledge we obtained from our Diabetes & COVID-19 Survey. This will highlight some of the disruption caused to diabetes care by the pandemic and its impact on the quality of life of people living with diabetes. The survey results also suggest that there are significant differences across Europe, not only in terms of access to care but also in relation to the psychological and economic impact the disease had on people living with diabetes. The survey results will be presented at the beginning of the webinar and will form the basis of the panel discussion on health inclusivity.
