FAND- Associazione Italiana Diabetici – was founded in 1982 by Doctor Roberto Lombardi. It is a volunteer-based association that comprises of around 100 local branches.
Main Focus
To provide moral, legal and social support to people living with diabetes. These support services are in line with the objectives proposed by Italian law (paragraph 115/87), which is part of the National Health Care Strategy.
Activities
- To contact and coordinate health centres and healthcare professionals working in diabetes.
- To provide services for people with diabetes, such as legal and social assistance.
- To promote local FAND associations and diabetes care centres.
- To raise diabetes awareness through information sharing.
