The 24th Panhellenic Diabetes Conference

25 March 2026

On March 18-21, the Hellenic Diabetes Association held the 24th Panhellenic Diabetes Conference, bringing together over 1,800 participants for four days of scientific exchange and collaboration.

The programme covered the full spectrum of modern diabetes care, including prevention and treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiometabolic health and emerging therapies. Key discussions addressed everyday management challenges, such as travel, driving and pregnancy planning, as well as broader topics including complications, mental health, vaccination and advances in technology and insulin therapy. A debate on obesity treatment, comparing medical and surgical approaches, was among the highlights.

A key moment of the conference was the prestigious Aretaios Lecture, delivered by Tadej Battelino, IDF Europe Regional Chair, on “Time in tight range: early detection and reversal of hyperglycemia”, in recognition of his contribution to the field.

The conference also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and education, while highlighting both clinical advances and the lived experience of people with diabetes.
