The Youth Advocacy Committee (YAC) is an initiative by IDF Europe, designed to bring together young advocates with lived experience who are eager to enhance their expertise in European-level policy and advocacy, and engage directly with policymakers to drive meaningful change.

The voice of young people is gaining increasing importance within European institutions and the European region, and members of the youth network (YOURAH) have expressed a growing desire to deepen their expertise on European-related issues. The YAC committee aims to share this expertise and collaborate to seize opportunities present in Europe to have their voices heard.

The YAC cultivates a spirit of co-creation, enabling a dynamic two-way collaboration where young advocates actively contribute to shaping IDF Europe’s policy priorities in line with their perspectives and lived experiences. It provides a platform where their voices drive the agenda, while IDF Europe offers expertise and support to help them navigate the policymaking process.

Youth Policy Dialogue at the European Commission

On July 2, nine members of the YOURAH network had the incredible opportunity to join a Youth Policy Dialogue with European Commissioners Glenn Micallef (Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport) and Olivér Várhelyi (Health and Animal Welfare), in presence of MEP Peter Agius. During the roundtable discussion, they highlighted the unique challenges faced by the diabetes community and their key priorities.
