World Diabetes Day in Kazakhstan: promoting early detection and better diabetes foot care

02 December 2025

To mark World Diabetes Day, the Diabetes Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan organised a nationwide initiative focused on improving awareness, prevention and treatment of diabetes-related foot complications. The campaign, held under the theme “Healthy Feet,” brought together people living with diabetes (PwD) and endocrinologists for a day of practical examinations and professional training.

During the event, participants were seen by a podiatrist at the diabetes foot clinic, where they received comprehensive foot examinations, including baropodometric assessments and electromyography. These evaluations help detect early signs of pressure imbalance, nerve damage and other risks that can lead to serious complications.

Endocrinologists from across the country took part in a dedicated seminar on new methods for treating diabetes foot, exploring updated clinical practices, early intervention strategies and multidisciplinary approaches. The session supported healthcare professionals in expanding their expertise and improving the quality of care for people living with diabetes.

By combining practical screenings with professional education, these initiatives highlighted the importance of prevention, early detection and continuous learning to reduce the burden of diabetes foot complications.
