These sessions underscored the importance of connecting policy, science and lived experience to advance diabetes care.
Other highlights included a keynote address by Rt. Hon. The Baroness May of Maidenhead, the launch of the Global Diabetes Index by IDF President, Prof. Peter Schwarz., updates on the WHO Global Diabetes Compact, country reports from National Parliamentary Working Groups, and discussions on national diabetes strategies.
The event concluded with the signing of the Valletta Call to Action, a declaration setting out key priorities for governments to strengthen diabetes prevention, detection, treatment and care globally. This important statement reflects the commitment of parliamentarians and the wider diabetes community to drive meaningful, long-term change.
