The Union of Associations of Persons with Diabetes of Macedonia (UAPDM) is the oldest and largest organisation of people with diabetes in Macedonia. It is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation.
UAPDM is umbrella organisation that advocates for the rights of people with diabetes at national level. Through its national activities, it has established partnerships with professional medical associations, other patient organizations, ministries and other government institutions, institutions of the president, public health organisations and other non-governmental organisations.
Main Focus
UAPDM’s mission is to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes by advocating for better quality health service for them, educating their families and raising awareness among citizens about diabetes, in cooperation with all strategic partners and competent institutions in Macedonia.
The priorities for UAPDNM are:
- Implementing a ten-year National Diabetes Programme.
- Introducing and maintaining a national registry of people with diabetes.
- Introducing national guidelines for diabetes prevention.
- Changing the procurement system for ordering therapy and medical devices.
- Introducing and implementing all joint actions with partners and stakeholders.
- Defining and implementing joint actions with each stakeholder who is a signatory of the Memorandum of Cooperation in November 2024.
- Introducing international cooperation with other organisations of people with diabetes, actively participating in international projects and sharing better practice.
