The 8th Insulin on Board Cup takes place in Warsaw

14 July 2026

On June 27–28, the 8th edition of the Insulin on Board Cup football tournament took place at the Białołęka Sports Centre in Warsaw, Poland, bringing together children, young people and adults living with diabetes through sport, education and community activities. Since its beginnings in Poland, the Insulin on Board Cup has expanded to welcome teams from across Europe, evolving into a celebration of the wider diabetes community that brings together people living with diabetes (PwD), their families, healthcare professionals (HCPs) and supporters.

Organised by the Foundation for Children and Adults with Diabetes, the tournament welcomed 222 players representing 25 teams from Poland, Italy and Slovakia. Teams were divided into five age categories, with junior matches taking place on outdoor football pitches and senior teams competing in the futsal category.

For the third consecutive year, IDF Europe provided honorary patronage for the Insulin on Board Cup, recognising its role in promoting physical activity, postering connections and creating opportunities for PwD to share experiences.

Bringing the diabetes community together

Beyond the football competition, the event included educational activities, sports sessions and a family picnic, offering attendees the opportunity to interact, learn more about diabetes management, explore available technologies and talk with HCPs specialising in diabetes management, mental health and nutrition.

The tournament also provided the chance for families, coaches, PwD and representatives of diabetes organisations from across Europe to come together during a welcoming event held on the first evening. The evening included informal activities, entertainment and social moments following the first day of competition.

Supporting initiatives that empower PwD

Through initiatives such as the Insulin on Board Cup, sport can contribute to improving well-being, promoting inclusion and empowering PwD to pursue their goals. IDF Europe congratulates the organisers, participants, volunteers and partners who contributed to the success of this year’s event and remains committed to supporting initiatives that support the health, well-being and inclusion of PwD.
