About

In 1998, Prof Dr Thep Himathongkam was invited by The Endocrine Society of Thailand to organise a pre-congress diabetes education workshop on the occasion of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) conference. To prepare, Dr Thep gathered healthcare professionals in Thailand interested in diabetes education for the first time. This resulted in the establishment of the Diabetes Educators Club at Theptarin Hospital, which aimed to create and disseminate knowledge, provide support and organise training programmes to promote better diabetes care in Thailand.

In 2003, due to increasing membership and growing interest, the club transitioned into the Thai Association of Diabetes Educators (TDE). Its mission is to provide high-quality diabetes education for a better quality of life.

Currently, TDE has over 2,000 members nationally.

Since 2017, TDE has trained over 19,000 healthcare professionals and certified nearly 100 diabetes educators.
