This project aims to improve the lives of people living with diabetes and those at risk by increasing access to education, empowering individuals, and strengthening care. Many communities face significant knowledge gaps, especially in carbohydrate counting, nutrition, and self-monitoring, which are essential for effective diabetes management. Limited access to education and resources often leads to poor self-care, complications, and reduced quality of life. To address this, the project will provide diabetes education to individuals, families, and communities through workshops, educational materials, and digital platforms. People living with type 1 diabetes will be trained as champions to act as role models and peer mentors, creating sustainable support networks and inspiring others to take control of their health. Awareness campaigns will target schools, workplaces, religious institutions, community members, and media platforms to reach the wider community, reduce stigma, and promote healthier lifestyle practices. At the same time, healthcare providers will be trained and equipped with up-to-date guidelines to improve the quality of care and support for patients. Through education, empowerment, and improved care, the project will help reduce the burden of diabetes, strengthen prevention efforts, and improve health outcomes. It seeks to build healthier, more informed communities where people living with diabetes are not only supported but empowered to succeed.
