The humanitarian crisis in Sudan has left countless people living with diabetes without access to essential care, insulin, or education. In the midst of disrupted healthcare systems and widespread displacement, diabetes has become one of the silent casualties of the crisis, often neglected and forgotten. My project, Hope Beyond Neglect: Diabetes in Sudan, aims to raise awareness about the impact of this neglect and advocate for better support for people living with diabetes in conflict settings. Together with fellow IDF members, I will help develop online platforms and websites that share educational materials, stories, and advocacy messages to reach a wider audience. In
In addition, the project will engage public figures and influencers to amplify our message, leveraging their platforms to raise awareness and foster compassion. By combining digital advocacy with community outreach, Hope Beyond Neglect strives to highlight the urgent need for access to diabetes care, even in times of crisis. Ultimately, this project seeks to restore visibility, dignity, and hope to those affected, reminding the world that diabetes should never be neglected, regardless of circumstance.
