The project aims to address a significant gap in diabetes education for young adults living in rural regions of my country. Despite the rising availability of digital health resources, individuals with type 1 diabetes living outside major cities can often experience difficulty accessing reliable information and peer support networks. The project proposes to develop and implement a series of 6 to 8 virtual educational seminars targeted at young adults, ages 17 to 34, living with Type 1 diabetes in rural areas of Uruguay. The main goal is to empower participants through knowledge, skills, and community, and to create a peer support network to encourage young people to continue learning about their condition through their peers. The project will also aim to reduce health disparities between rural and urban populations and to support better overall management of type 1 diabetes.
