Hi, I’m Ranuk Chhaya from Cambodia. I’m 19 years old. As a Young Leader in Diabetes, my goal is to raise awareness about diabetes and its impact on our communities.
In Cambodia, around 723,200 adults are living with diabetes and roughly half are undiagnosed. An estimated 582 people of all ages live with type 1 diabetes, with 8.4% of children with type 1 diabetes never diagnosed.
These figures imply a need for educating the public, promoting screening for early detection and creating support networks for people with diabetes and their families. I aspire to use art and community engagement to make diabetes more visible, reduce stigma and help people get the care they deserve.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing.
