Hello! I’m Ibrahima Sory Diallo from Guinea. I’ve been living with type 1 diabetes since September 2007.
In Guinea, about 244,000 adults are living with diabetes and close to 300 children and adolescents live with type 1 diabetes. Education, support, and advocacy are key to improving lives—especially in places where access to care and information remains limited.
In 2013, I joined the Association of Children with Diabetes of Labé and later became part of the team of young diabetes leaders in Guinea. Since 2020, I’ve also been an active member of the Guinean Association for Education and Aid to Diabetics (AGEAD), where I organise regular diabetes education sessions in hospitals, run awareness campaigns, and advocate through local media to fight stigma.
I currently hold a professional licence in hydrology, but my passion lies in community health and empowerment. As a Young Leader in Diabetes, I aim to strengthen diabetes education and awareness in my country, while also supporting global initiatives that improve the quality of life for people living with diabetes around the world.
