The Diabetes association of Zanzibar is a Nongovernmental organization non-political and non profitable voluntary organization established since 1986 by the founder member Dr Mohammed Hasnu Makame and the Current General Secretary is Mr Omar Abdulla Ali
Main Focus
- To raise awareness and promote action to reduce the main risk factors for type two Diabetes.
- To raise awareness and promote action to prevent or delay the complication of Diabetes.
- To raise awareness of the warning signs of Diabetes and promote action to encourage early Diagnoses
- To encourage government to control diabetes and its complications.
Activities
- Conduct Community awareness through various means include Television, Radio, School Health Program, and Community Health education.
- Conduct Community Outreach activities, By performing Screening of BMI, Blood Sugar test and Hypertension
