Hello, I’m Rania Akloul from Algeria. I have been living with type 1 diabetes since 2012. I am passionate about fighting for a future where no child with diabetes is left behind.
Too many children still lack access to essential technologies like insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors which should be a right, not a privilege. I believe strongly in the power of education for families and communities to challenge myths and save lives.
Algeria is in the IDF MENA Region. Despite advancements in diabetes care, access to healthcare in MENA remains limited, particularly in rural areas where specialised diabetes care facilities are often needed. In Algeria, approximately 188,000 people are living with type 1 diabetes, including around 56,000 are children and adolescents.
Through the Blue Circle Voices network, I want to amplify the needs of children living with diabetes, advocate for equity and accessible care and support the IDF’s mission for a world where every young person has the tools and knowledge to live fully and freely.
