The Vuk Vrhovac University Clinic offers comprehensive medical care to people with diabetes and to patients with endocrinological and metabolic diseases. The main activity of the clinic is the treatment of diabetes, and the clinic is also the Reference Center of the Ministry of Health for diabetes, and a collaborating institution of the World Health Organization.
Also, within the clinic, complete diagnostics and treatment of chronic complications of diabetes are carried out, including cardiovascular (Doppler scan of arteries and veins of the lower extremities, ultrasound of the heart, ergometry, blood pressure holter, ECG holter), ophthalmological (examination of the anterior and posterior segment of the eye, intraocular pressure measurement, fluorescein angiography, laser photocoagulation of the macula and retina) and neurological (physical examination, doppler of the carotid and vertebral arteries, vegetative testing, EMNG, pain therapy, acupuncture, physical therapy), performed by specialist cardiologists, neurologists and ophthalmologists specially trained for work for people suffering from diabetes. As part of the endocrinology clinic, ultrasound and cytological puncture of the thyroid gland are performed.
The clinic consists of the Institute for Diabetes, Polyclinic, Day Hospital, and Polyclinic for Chronic Complications.
