Healthcare professionals, people with diabetes, caregivers and the public can all benefit from reliable and accurate diabetes education. The ignorance surrounding diabetes leads to stigma and misinformation. The first step to stopping this discrimination and improving the well-being of people living with the condition is to understand diabetes.
In view of this, IDF hosted a Blue Circle Talk to mark the International Day of Education on 24 January. A panel composed of people with diabetes evaluated the positive impact diabetes education has on an individual and community level. Their discussion covered the complexities of delivering diabetes education and the significance of country, context and culture.
