Following the success of our face-to-face dialogue with experts in China, a blended format, “Connect to IDF Experts — 2024 Diabetes Academic Exchange Conference”, was jointly organised by IDF and the Beijing Medical and Health Foundation on 19 October.
The event gathered 115 endocrinologists in eight cities across China — Shenyang, Beijing, Jinan, Xi’an, Nanjing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen — to participate in academic exchange with IDF experts.
Expert speakers, including Professor Roopa Mehta, Professor Antonio Ceriello, and Professor Per-Henrik Groop, shared valuable insights through lectures and interactive discussions.
Presentation topics included:
- The epidemiology and interconnected impact of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D)
- KDIGO and ADA guideline recommendations for individuals with T2D and CKD
- Clinical research on the renal benefits of GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA)
- Techniques for excelling in academic presentations
Attendees explored these topics in detail during an informative follow-up Q&A session chaired by Professors Ji Linong, Cao Yanli, Sun Yu, Li Xiaofeng, Li Ling, Yu Yerong, Wu Xiaohong, and Lin Xiahong.
With lively exchanges and in-depth discussions, the conference fostered an atmosphere of active learning and professional growth, underscoring IDF’s commitment to advancing diabetes care worldwide through collaborative education and expert guidance.
