On 7 March, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) will host an online Blue Circle Talk to mark International Women’s Day.
During this event, diabetes advocates and healthcare professionals will examine the unique health challenges women face throughout life and the pathways needed for effective advocacy.
According to the latest IDF estimates, 260 million women are living with diabetes. Additionally, approximately one in six pregnancies — or 21 million women — are affected by gestational diabetes, with the majority occurring in low- and middle-income countries where access to maternal care is often limited.
From healthcare disparities to workplace discrimination to social interactions, women with diabetes face unique obstacles in many aspects of their lives, which can impact their mental well-being and overall quality of life.
