To mark World Diabetes Day on 14 November, the World Health Organization announced the launch of the Global Diabetes Compact in April 2021.
The Global Diabetes Compact will be a comprehensive and inclusive approach to support countries in implementing effective diabetes prevention and management programmes. On the prevention side, it will focus on reducing obesity – especially among young people. On the treatment side, the main goal will be to improve access to diabetes medicines and technologies, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
