On March 9-11, the WHO NCD Department and the WHO GCM/NCD Secretariat held a three-day Consultation with people living with diabetes to promote their meaningful engagement in the development of the WHO Global Diabetes Compact.
The meeting, which also involved civil society organisations, focused on the unique perspectives that people with diabetes can bring and how their experiences can help shape the Compact.
IDF was represented by over 30 participants from its national member associations, Blue Circle Voices and Young Leaders in Diabetes – some of whom acted as chairs, speakers and rapporteurs.
The Consultation represents an important step towards promoting the meaningful involvement of people with lived experiences in WHO activities. IDF would like to thank the WHO NCD Department and the GCM/NCD team for their long-term commitment with the diabetes community and for listening to its views and voices during the Consultation.
