The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an umbrella organisation of over 240 national diabetes associations in more than 160 countries and territories, working together to improve the lives of the estimated 540 million people living with diabetes and prevent diabetes in those at risk.

IDF is looking to hire a well-structured, results-driven and enthusiastic Education Project Assistant to join us as a full-time member of our Education team.

This position will be a one-year fixed-term contract which can be extended.

The Education Project Assistant will work remotely and can be based anywhere. (If the applicant does not reside in Belgium, the employment contract will be a consultant (self-employed) contract.)

Purpose of role

This role is responsible for supporting IDF online learning initiatives and enhancing the educational experience for participants worldwide. The candidate will be responsible for managing participant queries, generating insightful reports and conducting thorough course analyses across our e-learning platforms. This role will ensure the quality and effectiveness of our online diabetes education programmes, ensuring learners receive timely support and that our courses meet the highest standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities and activities
  • Coordinate projects from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Serve as the main contact between all project stakeholders.
  • Work with technical teams to define project needs and implement solutions.
  • Ensure e-learning platform pages are accessible and functional.
  • Coordinate with experts and volunteers to review and update content.
  • Support project expansion through research and proposal drafting.
  • Create and deliver presentations for various audiences.
  • Assist with compiling and reviewing project reports with the Team.
  • Collaborate with different departments to achieve project goals.
  • Provide a monthly recap of individual payments to the Finance Department.
  • Help with the accreditation renewal process.
  • Use social media for project promotion and marketing.
  • Draft notifications for course promotions and achievement updates.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Skills/Competencies/Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in developing and delivering multidisciplinary educational programmes (in-person or online) focused on chronic conditions, ideally diabetes and its complications.
  • Language Proficiency: Strong English writing skills are essential. Additional language skills (Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, French, and/or Spanish) are highly desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles, with the ability to plan, execute, and oversee multiple initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills, with a proven ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Action-oriented with a strong capacity for problem-solving and achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Proficient in standard business software and comfortable working with online learning platforms.
  • Sharp analytical skills paired with clear and effective communication abilities.
  • Able to work autonomously and manage time efficiently.
  • Genuine interest in health issues, with a strong empathy for individuals living with diabetes.
  • Ability to succeed in a virtual, multicultural and international environment.
