10 days to World Diabetes Day!

04 November 2023

14 November is fast-approaching! This year, our World Diabetes Day campaign is focusing on the importance for individuals to understand their risk of type 2 diabetes, as well as highlighting the impact of diabetes-related complications and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.

Watch our new campaign video, featuring personal perspectives from people with diabetes and healthcare professionals on the importance of having access to the right information and care.

How will you support our “Know your risk, Know your response” campaign?

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

  • Send a letter to your national health minister or Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. Use our online tool to ask for increased investment to help achieve the World Health Organization (WHO) diabetes coverage targets and universal health coverage by 2030.
  • Share our type 2 diabetes risk assessment tool to help more people understand their risk and take action to delay or prevent the condition.
  • Download and display our visual assets including posters, social media visuals and infographics.
  • Check out and use our Instagram filters to promote the blue circle, campaign call to action and risk assessment tool.
  • Plan an activity to highlight the importance of diabetes awareness in your local community, workplace, youth group or online. Post your activities on our dedicated online platform!

Activities planned for World Diabetes Day 2023 around the world:

  • In Puerto Rico, the Fundación Pediátrica de Diabetes will organise an educational day for children and adolescents living with diabetes and their families. Activities include creating a human blue circle and educational games.
  • In Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka College of Endocrinologists and Sri Lanka Diabetes Federation are organising their annual diabetes walk on 11 November in order to raise public awareness of diabetes.
  • In India, the Pharma Health Club at RK University is hosting an ePoster competition and online quiz about diabetes as part of their diabetes awareness campaign.
  • In Romania, the Sports & Diabetes Association is planning a Blue Cycling Day to promote exercising outdoors and offering an opportunity for people with diabetes and their families in the community to spend time together.

Keep up to date with all the work we’re doing
