The World Health Organization (WHO) held its 154th Executive Board (EB) in Geneva on 22-27 January 2024. The WHO Executive Board advises and facilitates the work of the World Health Assembly, WHO’s decision-making body. IDF has official relations with WHO and collaborates closely on diabetes awareness, prevention and care.
Several EB agenda items were particularly relevant for the diabetes community, including universal health coverage and humanitarian emergencies. IDF attended the WHO EB meeting and supported the following EB Constituency Statements:
- Agenda item 6: Universal Health Coverage.
- Agenda item 7: Follow-up to the political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
- Agenda item 14: WHO’s work in health emergencies.
