New Understanding Diabetes course on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM)

The International Diabetes Federation, in collaboration with FIND, has launched a new free online course on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) available on the IDF School of Diabetes Understanding Diabetes platform.

Diabetes technology has made significant strides over recent decades, with CGM devices having emerged as one of the pivotal advancements supporting diabetes management. This 30-minute course provides a comprehensive overview of CGM technology and is designed to help people with diabetes and their carers understand glucose management using CGM.

Topics covered include:

  • The importance of glucose monitoring
  • Understanding how CGMs work
  • The difference between CGM and self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG)
  • What are TIR, TAR, and TBR and how are they used
  • Who can benefit from using CGMs
  • How to use CGMs effectively
  • When to seek support

The course is endorsed by the Society for Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes of South Africa (SEMDSA).

Coming soon: online course for healthcare professionals

A free online course on CGM designed for healthcare professionals will be available later this summer in the IDF School of Diabetes. This course will equip healthcare professionals with the skills to interpret and use CGM data to provide better care for people with diabetes.
