IDF supports statements at the 76th World Health Assembly

The World Health Organization (WHO) held the 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva from 21-30 May 2023, with the theme “WHO at 75: saving lives, driving health for all”.

Several WHA agenda items were particularly relevant for the diabetes community, including universal health coverage and social determinants of health. IDF was in Geneva for this important meeting and supported the following WHA Constituency Statements:

• Agenda item 13.1: Universal health coverage
• Agenda item 13.2: Draft updated menu of policy options and cost-effective interventions for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases – statement one and statement two
• Agenda item 13.4: Strengthening rehabilitation in health systems
• Agenda item 15.1: Strengthening WHO preparedness for and response to health emergencies
• Agenda item 16.1: Well-being and health promotion
• Agenda item 16.3: Social determinants of health
