International Diabetes Federation supports statements at 77th WHO World Health Assembly

The World Health Organization (WHO) held its  77th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva from 27 May to 1 June. The World Health Assembly is the WHO decision-making body that determines WHO policies.

Several WHA agenda items were particularly relevant for the diabetes community, including universal health coverage, emergency preparedness and preparations for the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs. IDF was present and supported constituency statements on the following agenda items:

  • 11.1: Universal Health Coverage.
  • 11.2: Follow-up to the political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
  • 13.4: WHO’s work to strengthen global governance of health emergency preparedness.
  • 15.4: Climate and Health.
