During the United Nations General Assembly on 20-22 September 2023, IDF will participate in a hybrid side event organised by the Global Coalition of Circulatory Health (GCCH) on 20 September at 12:00-13:30 EST / 18:00-19:30 CEST.
Addressing circulatory and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes is crucial for building accessible and resilient health systems. The need for these systems is even more vital during infectious outbreaks. Integrating NCD “Best Buy” measures, for example, reducing salt and sugar intake, into Universal Health Coverage (UHC) basic country packages offers governments the support to select lifesaving interventions and policies to tackle NCDs.
Riva Greenberg, IDF Blue Circle Voice, will represent the voice of people living with diabetes and those at risk. She will join ministers of health, presidents of the Global Coalition for Circulatory Health, healthcare professionals and people living with circulatory conditions for a high-level discussion on the critical role that circulatory disease and NCD prevention must play in achieving UHC and pandemic preparedness. Speakers will showcase positive examples of including fiscal tools and “Best Buy” measures in pandemic preparedness measures and UHC country packages.
