About

The Jordanian Society for the Care of Diabetes (JSCD) aims to offer the necessary information covering topics such as risk factors, complications, prevention and treatment, recent updates, and health and nutritional education targeting different community members and healthcare providers.

Vision:
Provide a standard of care which improves the lives and outcomes of all people living with diabetes or are at risk of developing it across Jordan, in collaboration with our local and international partners.

Mission:
To empower people to achieve optimal management of diabetes, decrease diabetes risk, and avoid its complications through outreach, providing support, counseling, education, and capacity-building.

JSCD is also active in advocacy and policy.

Main Focus

JSCD’s main focus is to reduce the prevalence of diabetes, improve the quality of care and outcomes for people living with diabetes, empower communities through education, and advocate for better diabetes policies and services across Jordan.

Activities

  • Type 2 diabetes screening activities to identify new cases and refer them for treatment by Ministry of Health, health centres and other entities.
  • Awareness campaigns through social media platforms, printed materials and lectures.
  • One-on-one education: Diabetes and Ramadan patient stratification; School awareness project;
    Hyperglycaemia in pregnancy (HIP)
  • Develop national guidelines in collaboration with other stakeholders in different sectors (MOH, RMS, university of Jordan).
  • Develop and provide training on curriculum for healthcare providers.
  • Structured diabetes education and counselling.
  • Young Leaders in Diabetes school project.
