About
Founded in 1995, the Korean Diabetes Society (KDS) is a public corporation registered in the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare. It conducts various programmes focusing on education, care & support, and public awareness. KDS is an organisation that helps people with diabetes live a healthy life and overcome their condition.
Activities
Education: KDS holds public lectures, diabetes camps and online camps to provide accurate and reliable information on diabetes so that Koreans can effectively manage diabetes and prevent complications.
Public Relations: KDS raises diabetes awareness among the public by holding blood glucose monitoring campaigns, distributing hypoglycemia awareness tags, and operating social media.
Publication: KDS publishes and distributes monthly magazines and guidebooks containing the latest medical articles and diabetes management therapies to medical staff, healthcare professionals, diabetes educators, and people with diabetes.
Care & Support: KDS distributes free glucometer exchange coupons to newly diagnosed people with diabetes, or those who need to manage their blood glucose, in about 500 hospitals, clinics, health centers, and medical centers in Korea. KDS also organizes the Hanmaum Excercise Club to exchange information and exercise together with other people with diabetes at least eight times a year.

If people with diabetes manage it with a positive attitude based on accurate and validated information, they can live a much healthier and more active life than the average person. That’s why the Korean Diabetes Society was founded and exists.”
