Presenting new epidemiological and diabetes-related impact data.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is divided into seven regions, with the aim of strengthening the work of national diabetes associations and enhancing collaboration between them. IDF's network of members in 161 countries and territories provides an authoritative global voice, working to ensure that the needs of all people affected by diabetes are met so that each can live their lives as unhindered by the disease as possible.
Our membership includes people with diabetes and those at risk; families affected by diabetes; governments; health professionals; pharmaceutical and other industries; education and research institutions; employers; and the wider community.
A national or international association that is addressing issues relating to diabetes and associated conditions may apply for membership of IDF.
IDF has two Membership categories:
A Full Member is a non-governmental, not-for-profit association that is actively concerned with diabetes and related conditions in its country, and is registered or established under its national law.
A Transnational Member is a non-governmental, not-for-profit association that is actively concerned with diabetes and related conditions in more than one country.
All applicants must fulfill certain criteria. These criteria are divided into Primary Criteria (minimum requirements for membership – if not met, the application will not succeed) and Secondary Criteria (desirable criteria which applicants would ideally meet).
Organisations applying for membership must meet the following Primary Criteria:
Have settled any previously unpaid fees and/or other obligations towards IDF.
In addition to the Primary Criteria listed above, organisations applying for IDF membership would also ideally meet the following Secondary Criteria :
