My life with diabetes began in 2012 following a type 1 diabetes diagnosis Two of my passions are promoting diabetes awareness and education and advocating for equitable, quality and accessible diabetes prevention, treatment and management. As a member of the Blue Circle Voices network, I can make a difference in the lives of people affected by diabetes.

Because I live with diabetes, I monitor many aspects of my lifestyle to maintain optimal blood sugar levels and minimise the risk of complications. What stands out most is the intersection between technology and diabetes management, which includes continuous glucose monitoring systems, insulin pumps and smart pens. Diabetes management is much easier with technology because it provides accurate, convenient and personalised ways to monitor blood sugar levels and administer insulin.

Being a BCV advocate lets me collaborate with diverse stakeholders — healthcare professionals, educators and people living with diabetes — to develop and implement effective strategies to address the challenges diabetes poses. By making technology accessible and affordable to people with diabetes worldwide can ultimately improve diabetes outcomes on a global scale.
