Gaming for Diabetes

Cohort: 2018-2019

Pedro Pires – Portugal

The project’s ambition was to create a permanent community that supports and empowers members to create their own projects for their peers. Young people with type 1 diabetes participated in gaming and social-related activities (e.g. a game night of board games, a night out, etc.) in order to strengthen their bonds.

Depending on the success of the starting phase, Pedro’s final ambition was to empower this community and provide them with tools that would have allowed them to create their own projects and motivate them to attend other activities.

On July 10, 2018, Pedro started to develop an initial draft of a survey to evaluate the needs of the community (best period for the event, topics to be discussed, preferred way of communication), as well as a draft of an advertisement to convey all the necessary information. In August, Pedro did a survey to assess his target audience’s views and needs regarding the events he has planned. He also worked on the promotion of his future activities with the creation of advertisement tools such as pamphlets and social media items.
