The project, Parents, Your Personal Healthcare Companion, entails training and learning sessions for parents of children with diabetes. The topics covered in the sessions include type 1 diabetes management and mental health issues related to diabetes. The CDiC (Changing Diabetes in Children) in BIRDEM-2, Dhaka, will support this initiative. The goal is to create a network of patients and parents who can help each other and disseminate information on type 1 diabetes and its management.
I am Rubya Alam. My family and friends call me by my nickname, which is Arpa. I am 26 years old and have lived with type 1 diabetes for 16 years. As a YLD advocate, I look forward to raising awareness of type 1 diabetes. Life would be much less complicated without diabetes. That doesn’t mean life is over once someone is diagnosed. At the moment, I am doing a postgraduate degree in political science at the University of Chittagong. Despair will only deteriorate the situation. Treatment, Diet and Discipline – TDD- can help maintain a healthy lifestyle!
