The project focuses on connecting children and adolescents with diabetes to help them live healthy lives and avoid unnecessary stress. We will organise educational campsfor 8– to 17-year-oldsto emphasise the DO’s rather than the DON’Ts for a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes physical activity, healthy eating, SMBG and treatment. Different strategies and alternatives will be discussed to increase the adoption of self-management practices. A survey will be conducted before and after the camps, with a follow-up three months later to monitoreffectiveness.
I’ve had diabetes since I was eight, so for over 16 years. But this hasn’t stopped me. I recently graduated and began working as a house officer, which is a resident physician and surgeon in a hospital.
