On 20 January 2025, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the Institute for Medical and Nursing Education (IMNE) are co-organising the webinar, “It’s about timing and targeting: Practical guidance on implementation of once-weekly basal insulins,” targeted at endocrinologists, diabetologists and family medicine specialists.
While non-insulin therapies exist, many people living with diabetes will still need insulin therapy as type 2 diabetes (T2D) progresses.
This webinar covers:
- Guideline-based insulin initiation and titration.
- Current basal insulin benefits and limitations.
- Barriers to insulin therapy.
- Breakthrough findings on once-weekly basal insulins and their clinical impact.
Date and Time:
20 January 2025
- 09:30 – North America (Mexico City)
- 12:30 – South America (Brasília, Buenos Aires)
- 16:30 – Europe (Copenhagen, Berlin, Madrid)
- 19:30 – Middle East (Dubai, Riyadh)

Registration
This webinar is open to health professionals globally, except for those based in the U.K. and the U.S.A.
RegisterLearning outcomes
Upon completion of this programme, the learner will be able to:
- Explain the adverse consequences of therapeutic inertia and related influence on patient outcomes, with a specific focus on the implications of delaying basal insulin therapy.
- Propose strategies to address barriers to the acceptance of insulin therapy among individuals with type 2 diabetes.
- Discuss data for once-weekly basal insulins and related potential impact on the management of people with type 2 diabetes.
- Develop and implement individualised basal insulin plans, including once-weekly basal insulins were appropriate, incorporating initiation, dosing, titration/intensification, and special circumstances.
