The conversation about mental health in diabetes care must happen. The input of those with diabetes and mental health experts can reshape this narrative by providing accurate information on integrated care. Living with diabetes, whether personally or as a caregiver, can be emotionally demanding due to continuous lifestyle adjustments and potential complications. Therefore, it’s essential to establish outlets to cope with the resulting stress, anxiety, and guilt. Despite its challenges, diabetes also presents daily learning opportunities and motivates self-improvement and community development.
As a diabetes educator, I inspire people to make informed choices when managing their condition. My advocacy work, fueled by personal experience, aims to increase awareness and support while decreasing the stigma associated with diabetes.
